Issues

Immigration

Queens is the modern day Ellis Island – people from all over the world pass through it, adding their culture and story to the melting pot of New York – and Jessica Ramos has been proud to represent it and welcome them to New York City. As Mayor, she will ensure that New York City as a whole effectively supports new arrivals while addressing the needs of all residents:

  • Expand Housing Access: Secure stable and affordable housing for new arrivals by advocating for programs like the Housing Access Voucher Program, ensuring no one is left without a home.

  • Strengthen Legal Services: Increase funding for immigration legal representation, crucial for fair outcomes in immigration court and faster work authorizations.

  • Enhance Language Access: Ensure city services provide information in all languages spoken by our diverse communities, enhancing public safety and access to resources.

  • Support Workforce Development: Invest in adult literacy and job training programs to help immigrants integrate into the workforce and contribute to our city’s economy.

  • Advocate for Federal Reforms: Push for quicker work authorizations and immigration relief, allowing newcomers to work, support themselves, and enrich New York City.

Harmony NYC

Improving the Mental Health Infrastructure of NYC

NYC is in a mental health state of emergency, and I will declare it as your Mayor on day one. Every New Yorker must have access to the mental health care they need in the language they speak.

We can achieve harmony in our city together by finally:

  • rehabilitating existing facilities and building new ones

  • creating a robust workforce pipeline,

  • and integrating supportive housing to address the most severe cases.

This holistic approach would position New York City as a leader in mental health reform and justice, emphasizing care, fairness, and transformative change.

I am offering a citywide effort to bolster public health and safety by weaving mental health care into every aspect of public life—health, housing, education, workplaces, and community support.

One Good Job

Work With Dignity.
Build With Purpose.

“One good job should be enough for every New Yorker to live comfortably.”

I am proposing a New York City Works Progress Administration - to create a space for New Yorkers to tackle the challenges our City faces. A public service employment program will reshape our neighborhoods by hiring New Yorkers to fix long-neglected needs, creating workforce development pipelines to fill gaps in the labor market.

Sample projects could include:

  • Workforce Housing

  • New public schools & swimming pools

  • A NYC Climate Corps to clean local bodies of water, build and install renewable energy, and install bioswales and storm-resilient infrastructure across the city

  • Neighborhood beautification & public art

  • Addressing child care and health care deserts

  • Public markets to formalize accommodate our city’s vendor economy and create tourist destinations

  • Refurbishing shuttered mental health facilities and hospitals

Other Key Issues

Affordable Housing

Jessica believes that every New Yorker deserves a safe and affordable place to call home. As State Senator, she has fought for historic tenant protections, ensuring that renters are not unjustly evicted and pushing for the legalization of basement apartments to expand affordable housing options.

Public Safety

Public safety extends to more than just tackling crime; it requires a holistic approach that ensures safe streets, safe communities, and trusted public institutions. Jessica Ramos is working to create safer neighborhoods without compromising justice and fairness.

Environmental Justice

Jessica has been a vocal advocate for environmental justice, fighting against fossil fuel projects in Queens and leading efforts to pass the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act.

Education and Childcare

Jessica believes that every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their background or zip code. She has championed efforts to fully fund public schools and expand access to early childhood education.

Healthcare for All

Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Jessica Ramos worked tirelessly in Albany to ensure that all New Yorkers have access to affordable, high-quality healthcare and she will continue the fight as Mayor.
