Statement from Senator Jessica Ramos on the Ongoing Bombings of Hospitals and Civilians Sites in Gaza

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached an unbearable tipping point, as the healthcare system has collapsed after more than a year of devastating conflict. Hospitals and medical facilities that once served the region are now in ruins, with only a few remaining operational under the most difficult conditions. This collapse has resulted in dire consequences for the people in Gaza, where the population has been left without access to basic medical care, and the healthcare infrastructure needed to support both short-term injuries and long-term care is largely in ruins. This is horrific.

The international community must take immediate action to ensure humanitarian aid reaches those in need and that civilians, particularly those seeking medical care, are protected from harm. We must prioritize peace and the protection of innocent lives. The Israeli government, driven by Benjamin Netanyahu’s right wing coalition, cannot continue to bomb hospitals and civilian infrastructure. I reiterate my call for an immediate bilateral ceasefire and the safe return of all hostages, as well as a global effort to restore Gaza’s healthcare system so every person can access life-saving care without fear.

A future where no child grows up in war and every community thrives in safety and dignity is possible. We must fight for it and must not look away. We must stand against hatred and bigotry in all its forms.
